Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who had been struggling for runs, finally found form in the second innings against India, scoring 82 runs—the highest for his team. However, his efforts were in vain as no other batsman could provide support, resulting in a significant defeat.
Chasing a daunting target of 515 runs, Bangladesh failed to make a competitive stand. They ended the day before at 158 runs for the loss of four wickets. Shanto, who resumed batting with 51 runs, was dismissed for 82, while Shakib Al Hasan showed some fight, but the lower order crumbled like a house of cards. Ultimately, Bangladesh was bowled out for just 234 runs, losing by 280 runs to India.
Despite the batting failure, the bowlers' exceptional performance did not go unnoticed. In the post-match presentation, Captain Shanto praised bowlers like Taskin and Hasan, stating, "In the first 2-3 hours, the way Taskin and Hasan bowled was commendable. However, India batted brilliantly afterward. Keeping the seam option in hand was a significant positive. We did well with the new ball, and we need to maintain that."
Reflecting on his own batting, Shanto added, "As a batter, I always try to contribute to the team. I enjoy my batting. My goal today was to bat as long as possible without worrying about the result. The Kanpur Test is crucial, and I hope the batters will perform well there."
