Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Faruk Ahmed today presented a check of 20 lakh taka to Sabina Khatun, the captain of the Bangladesh women's football team, in recognition of their victory in the SAFF Women's Championship 2024.
At the time of the check handover, BCB directors Nazmul Abedin, Fahim Sinha, and the manager of the national women's football team, Mahmuda Akter, were present. Sabina, who led the team to victory in Nepal, was invited to the BCB office to receive the award.
The Bangladesh women's football team won the SAFF Championship for the second consecutive time by defeating the host nation Nepal 2-1 in the final. The BCB president, Faruk Ahmed, had previously announced a reward for the team for their victory in the SAFF Championship.
This victory marks Bangladesh's second SAFF Championship title, with the previous win in 2022, both tournaments held in Nepal. Upon their return to the country, the team was given a grand welcome in an open-roof bus.
