BCB on Alert Over the Safety of Rishad and Nahid Rana Amid PSL and Regional Tensions
Amid escalating political tensions between Pakistan and India—with reports of cross-border hostilities—the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is closely monitoring the safety of two Bangladeshi cricketers currently participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL): Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana.
Rishad is playing for Lahore Qalandars, while Nahid Rana, though yet to debut, is part of the Peshawar Zalmi squad. Both players are currently in Pakistan. In light of recent developments, the BCB has issued an official statement clarifying its position regarding the players’ safety.
The BCB stated in the release:
“Given the changes in Pakistan’s security situation over the past 24 hours, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is closely monitoring the developments. The safety and well-being of Bangladeshi cricketers participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) remain our top priority.
The BCB has maintained regular communication with national team players Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana, who are currently taking part in the PSL. BCB President Faruque Ahmed is personally overseeing the situation and has spoken directly with PSL CEO Salman Naseer and Rishad to ensure the players feel mentally at ease and secure.
The BCB is working in close coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad to ensure that all necessary safety measures are in place.
The BCB expresses gratitude to both the PCB and the Bangladesh High Commission for their sincere cooperation and will continue to monitor the overall situation closely.”
