BCB Announces Decision Following Meeting with ICC
A video conference between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) has been held regarding Bangladesh’s participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The meeting took place on Tuesday afternoon, during which the BCB reaffirmed its position on security concerns and match venues.
During the discussion, the BCB stated that it is not reconsidering its decision not to travel to India due to security-related concerns. The Board also reiterated its request to the ICC to consider hosting Bangladesh’s matches outside India.
The BCB further emphasized that ensuring the safety and security of players, officials, and all concerned personnel remains its top priority. At the same time, the Board expressed its commitment to continuing constructive discussions with the ICC on the matter.
On the other hand, the ICC noted that the tournament schedule has already been announced and urged the BCB to reconsider its stance. However, the BCB clearly stated that it remains firm in its previous decision.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue discussions in order to explore possible solutions.
Representing the BCB at the meeting were Board President Md Aminul Islam, Vice Presidents Shakawath Hossain and Faruque Ahmed, Chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee Nazmul Abedeen, and Chief Executive Officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury.
