Sri Lankan batters have scored runs against Bangladesh with joy in their hearts. They have amassed a total of 531 runs without any pressure. On the other hand, Bangladesh's batters lost one wicket towards the end of the day. As the day's play is left with only 2 overs, Mahmudul Hasan Joy lost his wicket.
Discussing the challenge of batting at the end of the day, Bangladesh's batting coach, David Hemp, said in a press conference, "It can be challenging. We have to adapt to these situations, get accustomed to it. I think if we can break it down and play it in parts, it will become easier. If someone thinks they couldn't perform well today, they can push themselves tomorrow. Splitting the game into two halves means 6 overs each? That means 36 balls. So, I will play 36 balls today. It's about competing ball by ball and managing time with skill. Cricketers have to face such challenges anywhere in the world, be it Test cricket or first-class cricket. Therefore, cricketers are accustomed to it. They just need to show it on the field."
Taijul Islam has been called as the night watchman. He has proved himself in the previous Test as well. Today, Taijul has taken up the same responsibility. Speaking about this spinner, Hemp said, "In the previous match, he played a fantastic innings as a night watchman. So, when we discussed it with him this time, he agreed. So, there's no problem here. He is ready and happy to do it. It's a great thing."
Hope for victory still exists in Hemp's voice. Bangladesh is still trailing by 476 runs. The Chattogram Test seems challenging for Bangladesh. The batting coach hopes for a good batting performance with three sessions available tomorrow (the third day).
