Bangladesh’s Pakistan Tour in Doubt Amid PSL Rescheduling Conflict
Bangladesh’s Pakistan Tour in Doubt Amid PSL Rescheduling Conflict
Bangladesh is scheduled to tour Pakistan for a five-match T20I series, but the recent announcement of the resumption of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 may disrupt that plan. With the PSL set to resume on May 17, its revised schedule now clashes directly with Bangladesh’s proposed series dates.
Following the easing of India-Pakistan tensions, cricket is making a gradual return to normalcy in the region. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently announced that the postponed PSL will resume on May 17, with the final set for May 25 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium—the same day Bangladesh and Pakistan are supposed to play their first T20I in Faisalabad.
This overlap suggests that adjustments will be required in Bangladesh’s tour itinerary.
According to the original plan, Bangladesh is expected to arrive in Pakistan on May 21, with the five-match series starting from May 25. The first two matches are scheduled for Faisalabad, while the remaining three are to be played in Lahore. However, given the PSL final’s scheduling in Lahore, venue and timing conflicts now seem inevitable.
The Pakistan Super League still has eight matches remaining, which were postponed earlier due to heightened border tensions with India. The remaining league and playoff matches will be held in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has yet to finalize its decision on the tour and is still in discussions with the PCB. Security concerns remain a key factor, and the clash in scheduling only adds to the uncertainty.
The question now looms large: Will Bangladesh proceed with the Pakistan tour amid the scheduling and security complications?
