Bangladeshi Community Clubs Shine at National Cricket League Annual Awards in the UK
The United Kingdom’s premier Sunday cricket competition, the National Cricket League (NCL), celebrated its 14th Annual Awards with a grand ceremony in London. Featuring participation from over 30 Bangladeshi community clubs, the league has become the strongest platform for expatriate Bangladeshi cricket in Europe.
Throughout the season, Bangladeshi teams consistently performed at the top. Neo Cricket Club, Comilla Warriors, Onirban Cricket Club, Supernova Cricket Club, London Vikings, Flo Cricket Club, and Blackstone Cricket Club all showcased remarkable consistency. Alongside them, Essex Lions, London Fighters, and Royal Tigers Cricket Club also made their mark with impressive campaigns.
In the league’s Elite Division, Gagan CC emerged as the champions. However, the competition from Bangladeshi teams was equally notable.
Neo Cricket Club clinched the prestigious Haji Juned Patel T–20 Storm Super Cup, with Mehad Khan’s four-wicket performance in the final securing the trophy. Additionally, Neo CC became the Gold Championship Division ‘C’ champions.
Comilla Warriors also demonstrated consistent excellence. Their second team finished as runners-up in the Pro 40 Super Cup, while the main squad performed strongly in Premier Division ‘B’.
Onirban Cricket Club was among the title contenders this season. In addition to winning the Pro 40 Super Cup, Ruman Ahmed’s 94-run innings was one of the season’s standout individual performances. The club also became champions in the Blackhorse Estates Premier Division ‘A’.
Supernova Cricket Club secured the Gold Championship ‘B’ title, with London Vikings finishing as runners-up, making the season memorable.
Flo Cricket Club showcased their strength with both bat and ball in the Emerald Division. Blackstone Cricket Club, meanwhile, became champions in Sapphire Division ‘A’, creating a significant buzz in the community.
Essex Lions CC claimed the Emerald Division ‘B’ championship and were runners-up in the T–20 Storm Cup, proving their consistency. London Fighters Cricket Club became champions in Emerald Division ‘C’, while Royal Tigers were runners-up, maintaining their strong performance streak.
Special awards for the season, including Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best All-Rounder, and Match Officials, were presented, with Bangladeshi players leaving a clear mark in every category.
For 14 years, the National Cricket League has been more than just a competition; it has been a key force in enriching cricket culture within the British Bangladeshi community. The league has become a vital platform for young expatriate players to grow and showcase their talent.
The event was hosted by NCL founder Sajid Patel. League chairman Nahid Patel was given special recognition for 14 years of dedicated service to the community—a heartfelt moment that captivated everyone present.
