The Bangladesh Women’s ‘A’ team once again asserted their dominance today. After defeating Sri Lanka and Thailand, they overcame Malaysia to secure the top spot in their group and claim a place in the semifinals.

On the stage of the Asia Cup Rising Stars in Bangkok, Bangladesh sealed a hat-trick of wins by defeating Malaysia by 90 runs.

Having won the toss, Bangladesh chose to bat first. In their allotted 20 overs, they scored 151 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Lata Mondal was the top scorer with 48 runs, playing 44 balls and hitting four boundaries to anchor the innings.

Captain Fahima Khatun contributed 29 runs off 24 balls, while Sharmin Sultana added 30 runs from 25 balls. Additionally, Sadia Akter scored 19 runs off 11 balls, and Rubia Haider made 14 runs from 11 deliveries.

Malaysia, chasing the target, found themselves under pressure from the start. Only Nur Arianna Natsia managed to reach double figures, scoring 22 not out off 24 balls, while the rest of the team remained in single digits. They ended their innings at 61 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

Among the Bangladesh bowlers, Fatema Jahan took three wickets, and Sharifa Khatun claimed two. With this win and the group championship, the Bangladesh Women’s team will face Pakistan in the semifinals on February 20.
