Bangladesh U-19s Secure Dominant 5-Wicket Win Over Nepal in Asia Cup

Bangladesh's U-19 team continued their winning momentum in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup with a comprehensive 5-wicket victory over Nepal in Dubai. The defending champions, the Junior Tigers, have now secured two wins in as many matches, putting them at the top of the group table.

Having started their campaign with a 45-run win over Afghanistan in the opening match, Bangladesh faced Nepal today and bowled them out for just 141 runs. In pursuit of the modest target, Bangladesh reached it with 128 balls to spare, winning by 5 wickets.

The chase was straightforward for Bangladesh, as they needed only 28.4 overs to seal the victory. Opener Zawad Abrar top-scored with a half-century, and the team's captain, Azizul Hakim Tamim, played a solid knock of 52 runs to guide his side to a comfortable win. However, Bangladesh lost Kalam Siddique early in the innings.

Tamim, coming in at number three, formed a key partnership with Zawad Abrar. The pair added 90 runs for the second wicket before Abrar, who had scored 59 runs, was dismissed. Bangladesh faced another setback when Mohammad Shihab James was dismissed for a golden duck off the next ball.

Despite these setbacks, Tamim continued his dominant form, as he received support from Farid Hasan, who made 13 runs before being dismissed. With his half-century, Tamim saw Bangladesh through to victory, finishing unbeaten. Tamim had been the hero in the opening match as well, scoring a century to lead Bangladesh to a win against Afghanistan.

Earlier, Nepal, batting first after losing the toss, found it difficult to counter Bangladesh's strong bowling attack. Only three of Nepal’s batsmen managed to score in double figures, with opener Akash Tripathi top-scoring with 43 runs. Bangladesh’s bowlers proved too much for the Nepalese batsmen, limiting them to just 141 runs in their innings.

With this dominant win, Bangladesh U-19s continue their strong performance in the Asia Cup, looking to maintain their winning streak as they aim for another title.
