Bangladesh Under-19 team sent a strong message ahead of their upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka U-19 with a commanding 103-run victory in the lone warm-up match on Wednesday. Led by captain Azizul Hakim Tamim, the young Tigers outclassed their Sri Lankan counterparts with both bat and ball.
Winning the toss, Sri Lanka U-19 opted to field first—a decision they would soon regret. Bangladesh’s batting unit responded with a collective effort, posting a challenging total of 289 runs in 49.4 overs. Four key batters stood out: Kalam Siddique Alin scored 58, Debashish Sarkar Deba added 55, Rizan Hossain contributed 45, and Jawad Abrar chipped in with 42.
Despite being bowled out before completing their 50 overs, Bangladesh's total proved more than enough.
In reply, Sri Lanka struggled from the outset, losing wickets at regular intervals against a disciplined Bangladeshi bowling attack. Samiun Basir Ratul led the charge, taking 4 wickets for 46 runs. He was well supported by Rafi Uzzaman Rafi, who bagged 3 wickets for just 21 runs, while Iqbal Hasan Emon chipped in with 2 wickets for 19.
Sri Lanka were eventually bowled out for 186 in 41.2 overs, handing Bangladesh a massive 103-run win.
The victory serves as a morale booster for Bangladesh ahead of their six-match ODI series against Sri Lanka U-19, which begins on April 26.
