In the first hour of the third day’s first session, Bangladesh’s innings fell into disarray. Starting the day at 10 without loss, Bangladesh lost 6 wickets for just 26 runs. Following this collapse, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Litton Das mounted a resistance against the Pakistani pacers. However, Miraz was dismissed for 78, breaking a vital 165-run partnership.
Bangladesh is still 81 runs behind Pakistan's first-innings total. By the time of the tea break, Bangladesh had reached 193 for 8. Litton Das remains unbeaten with 83 runs.
After losing 6 wickets for 26 runs, Litton and Miraz displayed responsible batting to avoid a follow-on. Both batsmen scored fifties and their partnership exceeded 150 runs. Litton Das secured another fifty, continuing his form from the first Test’s first innings. However, the context was different this time, as he stood firm amidst the team’s crisis.
Currently, Mehidy Hasan Miraz holds the record for the highest fifty scored by a Bangladeshi batsman batting at number 8 or lower in Test cricket, marking his eighth fifty in Test matches.
The partnership between Litton and Miraz brought some relief to the Bangladesh camp. However, as the partnership reached 165 runs, Khurram Shahzad struck again. Miraz’s innings ended at 78, while Shahzad celebrated his five-wicket haul. Following this, Taskin Ahmed was also dismissed, adding to Bangladesh's woes.
