In September of the ongoing year, the Bangladesh national cricket team will embark on a tour to India. During this tour, the Tigers will engage in two formats of cricket. Despite the presence of Test and T20 series, there will be no One Day International matches during this tour.
According to sources from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Cricket97 came to know that this tour is scheduled to commence in mid-September and will span over a month.
During their visit to India, the Bangladesh team led by Nazmul Hossain Shanto will play 2 Test matches and 3 T20 matches.
However, Bangladesh team doesn't find much opportunity to play in India. Despite acquiring Test status in 2000, Bangladesh has only played 3 Test matches in the neighboring country. In 2017, the two teams played Test matches on Indian soil for the first time in Hyderabad. This was followed by the historic Pink Ball Test at Eden Gardens in 2019, where Bangladesh faced defeat in all three matches.
Even in the shortest format, Bangladesh has only played 4 matches against India on their soil. This includes matches from the 2016 T20 World Cup in Bangalore and the 3-match series in 2019. Despite losses in Rajkot and Nagpur, Bangladesh managed to secure a victory in Delhi.
Though there won't be any One Day matches in this tour, Bangladesh has played against India in 1 ODI in 1990, 2 ODIs in 1998, and a solitary ODI in 2023, making it a total of 4 ODIs on Indian soil. However, in all these matches, Bangladesh has faced defeat.
