Bangladesh squad announced for Women's Asia Cup, recall Rumana-Jahanara
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming Women's Asia Cup, including Rumana Ahmed and Jahanara Alam. Opener Ishma Tanzim and left-arm spinner Sabikun Nahar have also been called up for the Asia Cup campaign.
To compete for the title of the best in Asia, the experienced pair of Rumana Ahmed and Jahanara Alam, who have been out of the team for over a year, have been brought back into the squad. All-rounder Rumana and pacer Jahanara have played 134 and 130 international matches respectively.
Rumana Ahmed last played for Bangladesh over a year ago. Jahanara was the highest wicket-taker in this season's Dhaka Premier Division Women's Cricket League (DPDWCL) with 25 wickets in nine matches, while leg-spinner Rumana took 17 wickets.
Habiba Islam, Fahima Khatun, Shovona Mostary, and Fariha Trishna have been left out from the squad that played against India in May.
Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka on July 20, followed by matches against Thailand and Malaysia on July 22 and July 24, respectively.
