Bangladesh Faces Collapse in Morning Session, Resilience from Liton and Miraz
Yesterday afternoon, the Bangladesh team left the field with smiles, but the morning session brought a complete turnaround. In the first hour of play today, Bangladesh lost 6 wickets, leaving the scoreboard in a dismal state at 26/6. Apart from opener Sadman Islam's 10 runs, the remaining five batsmen were dismissed for single-digit scores. However, Bangladesh showed resilience through the partnership of Liton Das and Mehedi Hasan Miraz.
During the morning session's first hour, Bangladesh crumbled, losing 6 wickets within the first 10 overs. Khurram Shahzad claimed 4 wickets, while Mir Hamza took 2. Khurram Shahzad caused havoc in the top order of the Tigers, dismissing opener Zakir Hasan, who was out for 1 run, with a catch. Khurram then struck again in his next over, dismissing two batsmen in quick succession by breaking their stumps.
Sadman Islam, who received a lifeline on the very first delivery of the innings, was eventually bowled by Khurram Shahzad for 10 runs off 23 balls. In the next three balls, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was also dismissed, with Shahzad’s full-length delivery displacing his stumps. Following Khurram's double blow, Mir Hamza took the catch of Mominul Haque off Mohammad Ali’s bowling in the ninth over. While Shanto managed to score 4 runs, Mominul could add only 1 more run.
Mir Hamza did not stop there; he also dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim, who was caught by the wicketkeeper. In the following over, Shakib Al Hasan also fell, plunging Bangladesh into deep trouble.
