Bangladesh Drops Two Spots in World Test Championship Standings
Bangladesh has slipped two places to sixth in the ICC World Test Championship table following a heavy defeat to India in the Chennai Test. After whitewashing Pakistan in a two-match Test series, Najmul Hossain Shanto's team had moved up to fourth place. However, the loss in Chennai has seen them revert to their previous position.
India remains at the top of the table with a points percentage of 71.67, followed by Australia at 62.50%. After their historic 2-0 series victory against Pakistan, Bangladesh had garnered 45.83% of the points, placing them in fourth. Yet, after the recent defeat to India, the team has fallen back to sixth place.
Bangladesh has played seven matches, winning three and accumulating a total of 33 points, with a points percentage of 39.29%. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka and England have entered the top five, with Sri Lanka moving up to fourth after winning their final match against England, raising their points percentage to 42.86%.
With this latest defeat, Bangladesh's hopes of maintaining a higher position in the standings have been significantly impacted, as they now look to regain their footing in the championship.
