The Bangladesh 'A' team faced a heavy defeat against the Pakistan Shaheens in the first ODI, with a large margin. Batting first, Bangladesh could only manage 183 runs. On a day when Soumya, Naim, and Hridoy failed, Saif Hassan and Rishad Hossain were the only ones to contribute significantly. Pakistan Shaheens chased down the modest target in just 27.5 overs. Usman Khan and Hasibullah scored identical innings of 73 runs each. The hosts started the series with an 8-wicket victory.

After losing the toss at the Islamabad Club Ground, Bangladesh 'A', led by Taouhid Hridoy, chose to bat first. Opening batsmen Mohammad Naim Sheikh and Soumya Sarkar were extremely unsuccessful. Naim Sheikh was dismissed for just 6 runs, caught behind the wicket, while Soumya Sarkar managed only 9 runs before being dismissed by a delivery from Abbas Afridi, losing his wicket to an inside edge.

Captain Taouhid Hridoy also failed to build an innings, getting out for 13 runs off 29 balls. Wicketkeeper-batter Zakir Ali Anik scored 5 runs, and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat could only manage 1 run. However, Saif Hassan played a notable innings, scoring 58 runs off 47 balls with 1 six and 10 fours. Saif’s innings was the highest for his team on the day.

Sheikh Mehedi Hasan scored 12 runs off 73 balls before being dismissed. Towards the end, Rishad Hossain played a cameo innings, helping the team reach a competitive total. Rishad scored 40 runs, including 4 fours and 2 sixes. Despite regular wicket losses, Bangladesh was restricted to 183 runs, unable to bat more than 36 overs.

Pakistan Shaheens made light work of the 184-run target, with openers Usman Khan and Hasibullah both scoring 73 runs each. As a result, Pakistan Shaheens won by 8 wickets with 22.1 overs to spare.

The Bangladeshi pacers could not make any significant impact, with both wickets falling to spinners. Sheikh Mehedi Hasan took 1 wicket for 19 runs, while Mosaddek Hossain took the other wicket, conceding 15 runs.

With this victory, Pakistan Shaheens lead the 3-match ODI series 1-0. The second ODI will be played on August 28 at the Islamabad Club Ground.
