Babar Azam clarifies his relationship with Shaheen Shah Afridi

Babar made it clear that there is no antagonistic relationship with Shaheen Shah Afridi. Afridi has recently been entrusted with the responsibility of captaincy under Babar's leadership. Afridi has been given the opportunity to lead Pakistan in a series, apart from the upcoming T20 World Cup. Additionally, amidst various speculations, Babar has been entrusted with the captaincy of the Pakistan team, adding further responsibilities to his shoulders.

After assuming his new role, Babar commented on a statement released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Though Afridi did not directly make any statement on the matter, the PCB's official website published a full press release. These incidents have created quite a stir within Pakistan cricket, where Afridi's apparent lack of enthusiasm was evident. However, Babar clarified the situation stating, "My relationship with Shaheen is not new. It's a long-standing one."

"In every situation, we support each other. Our goal is to prioritize Pakistan and enhance its reputation. We do not dwell on personal pride. I want to express my gratitude; there are no such issues in my team."

Nearly a year ago, Babar's captaincy was under scrutiny. Criticism ranged from Pakistan supporters to critics. At that time, Afridi spoke in support of Babar. He stressed the need to prioritize Pakistan's interests above all else. Both Babar and Afridi, coming from professional backgrounds, understand the importance of mutual understanding.

Tonight at 8 PM, Pakistan will face New Zealand in the first T20 match of the series.
