Austrian Cricket Association Apologizes to Israel Cricket Association and Israel National Team
The Austrian Cricket Association (ACA) has issued an apology to the Israel Cricket Association (ICA) and the Israel national cricket team. This apology comes after an incident that took place during the ICC T20 World Cup Europe Regional Qualifier match on June 10.
While the exact details of the incident remain unclear, the ICC statement mentioned, "The Austrian Cricket Association sincerely apologizes if anyone was hurt or if any offense occurred during the incident."
The statement further noted, "The Austrian Cricket Association has taken swift action against the responsible player and, in accordance with the procedure, has imposed the appropriate disciplinary sanctions on the player."
Following the incident, the ICC facilitated a reconciliation process under its anti-discrimination clause, and the issue has been resolved through mutual understanding between the two associations. The process was conducted confidentially.
It is worth mentioning that Austria and Israel faced each other on June 10 in Rome, at the Spinacetto ground. The match was part of the Europe Qualifier for the 2026 T20 World Cup. In that match, Austria's Akib Iqbal scored an unbeaten 52 off 35 balls, leading Austria to a 7-wicket victory over Israel.
