After the defeat in the ODI series, the T20I series is set to begin tomorrow. Bangladesh will face Australia in the women's team. Tigress captain Nigar Sultana Joty stated that restoring the team's confidence is the biggest responsibility. Speaking at a press conference, Joti further said that narrowing the gap with Australia is not possible.
Australia provides various facilities for their cricketers. Not only that, they are ahead of Bangladesh in many respects. The same goes for women cricketers. Joti raised the discussion about the arrangements made by the board, which are exceptional for the cricketers in Bangladesh.
Regarding the differences, Joty said, "The facilities and opportunities they have – the difference is significant."
"Our difference with them is not just about facilities. We don't play like them. The way they play cricket, the conditions they have – the difference is much more."
Bangladesh aims to learn from the mistakes made in the ODI series. There is confidence in performing well in the 20-over series. However, the main challenge lies elsewhere, as stated by the captain. She mentioned that the team's confidence has slightly diminished. Therefore, restoring confidence within the team will be the main task of this series.
"At this moment, what seems most important to me is restoring the team's confidence. Because this team was playing well. Suddenly, everyone seems a bit down. Now it's our responsibility to regain that confidence, no one from outside will come and lift us up, it's our responsibility to figure out how to regain it."
