Archer Returns as England Announce 15-Member Squad for T20 World Cup

England have begun their preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with a clear message of intent, aiming to reassert their dominance on the global stage. With a blend of experience and youthful energy, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has unveiled a strong 15-member squad, targeting a return to world champions’ glory.
The two-time T20 World Cup winners have introduced several notable changes to the squad. The biggest boost comes with the return of pace star Jofra Archer, who makes his comeback to the national team after a long injury layoff. His inclusion is expected to add extra pace and cutting edge to England’s bowling attack, something analysts believe could be a key factor in the tournament.
The most eye-catching surprise, however, is the selection of Josh Tongue. His call-up comes as a reward for an impressive run this year, having claimed the highest number of wickets (14) in the Men’s Hundred and delivering standout performances during the Ashes series. Head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Harry Brook have backed Tongue as a frontline pace option for the World Cup.
Experience has also been reinforced with the return of Will Jacks and opener Zak Crawley. On the other hand, players such as Jordan Cox and Saqib Mahmood have missed out on selection this time. England, who lifted the T20 World Cup in 2010 and 2022, reached the semifinals in the previous edition. Now, under the leadership of young captain Harry Brook, they are set to play an even more aggressive and fearless brand of cricket.
With a powerful batting unit and a varied pace and spin bowling attack, England are widely regarded as one of the strongest contenders for the T20 World Cup title.
England Squad:Harry Brook (captain), Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Josh Tongue and Luke Wood.
