Recent comments by Shadab Khan have sparked controversy in Pakistan cricket. The former leg-spin all-rounder has come under heavy criticism after claiming that Pakistan players have never been able to defeat India in a World Cup.
Former batsman Ahmed Shehzad, speaking at a Geo News program, said, “First of all, you came into the team through unofficial means. You are neither a consistent performer nor regularly playing domestic cricket. You are receiving support without delivering performances. Even when injured, you don’t go through proper rehabilitation. They dropped Hasan Ali from the central contract, but not you. If this isn’t favoritism, then I don’t know what is.”
Shehzad further added, “Such comments don’t sound good. Are you comparing yourself with the team of the 1990s? They also had challenges; they couldn’t beat India in the World Cup, but they were far better than you.”
He emphasized the importance of respecting the performances of former cricketers, saying, “Look at their performances—they dominated India at that time. Two former players merely criticized the team, and you forgot about their support. That’s why I’m saying, learn to respect your seniors.”
