In a dramatic few hours, the winning teams from both semifinals faced off in the final. Bangladesh HP is up against Adelaide Strikers. Adelaide, batting first, scored 169 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Ripon Mondol, the top wicket-taker of the series, claimed 2 wickets in the final as well.
In the Top End T20 series final, Bangladesh HP’s captain, Akbar Ali, won the toss and chose to bowl first, inviting Adelaide Strikers to bat. Adelaide lost opener Jack Winter in the second over due to a run-out, with Winter managing only 4 runs.
Tom O’Connell, who came in at number three, joined opener Harry Matthias. Their solid partnership helped Adelaide Strikers score 32 runs in the powerplay overs. However, in the 10th over, Mahfuzur Rahman Rabi dismissed Matthias, who had scored 19 runs.
Tom O’Connell, who had made a half-century, couldn’t progress further. He was bowled by Afif Hossain Dhruv in the latter’s first over, having scored 53 runs from 33 balls. In the next over, Rakibul Hasan, with his spin bowling, took the wicket of Harry Manenti, who scored only 1 run from 6 balls.
Captain Liam Scott started aggressively, but Ripon Mondol didn’t let his innings last long. Scott scored 30 runs off 18 balls, including 2 fours and a six. After losing their fifth wicket at 119 runs, Adelaide Strikers were guided by Ryan King and Sam Rahal. Thanks to their partnership, Adelaide Strikers reached a total of 169 runs at the end of 20 overs with 7 wickets down. Ryan King played a cameo innings, scoring 35 runs off 19 balls towards the end, while Rahal remained unbeaten with 20 runs off 13 balls.
