Former Indian cricketer and popular analyst Aakash Chopra has been full of praise for Bangladesh’s recent success. Impressed by their hat-trick of series wins, he described the Tigers’ form as “outstanding.” Not just stopping at praise, Chopra also revealed his preferred Bangladesh XI for the upcoming Asia Cup.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra said:
“Bangladesh’s current form is outstanding. They are playing fantastic cricket. In 2025, they are doing equally well both at home and away.”
According to him, the team has gone through a significant transformation since the 2024 T20 World Cup. Former captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, along with seasoned names like Shakib Al Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Mahmudullah Riyad, and Tanvir Islam are no longer part of the setup — creating a stark difference between the old and new squads.
However, Chopra pointed out certain weaknesses in the batting lineup. He feels Bangladesh are overly dependent on Litton Das, with other batters often struggling under pressure. Another major concern, in his view, is the shortage of genuine all-rounders. With Shakib Al Hasan absent and Mehidy Hasan Miraz unavailable, Chopra believes this could hurt Bangladesh in a multi-nation tournament.
On the bowling front, though, Chopra was full of admiration. He described the trio of Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Mustafizur Rahman as Bangladesh’s biggest assets. He also expressed faith in the variety of their spin department, highlighting Sheikh Mehedi, Rishad Hossain, and Nasum Ahmed.
As for his “players to watch,” Chopra picked Zakir Ali Anik, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Shamim Hossain Patowary.

Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, Litton Das, Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain Patowary, Zakir Ali Anik, Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mustafizur Rahman.
