In the first hour of the third day’s first session, Bangladesh’s innings fell apart. Starting the day at 10 without loss, they lost 6 wickets by the time they reached 26 runs. Despite the collapse, Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Liton Das put up a resilient stand against the Pakistani pacers. However, Miraz was dismissed for 78, breaking a crucial 165-run partnership. Taskin Ahmed was also dismissed shortly after.

Liton, along with his new partner Hasan Mahmud, built another vital partnership. Liton’s aggressive batting helped him achieve his long-awaited century. Before that, he and Mahmud managed to push Bangladesh’s total beyond 200.

Liton Das is now the first batter to score three centuries while batting at number 5 or lower when his team’s total was below 50. He scored 114 against Pakistan in Chattogram when Bangladesh was at 49/4, and 141 against Sri Lanka in Mirpur when the team was at 24/5. This century is Liton’s fourth in Test cricket.
