Rahul Dravid confirms T20 World Cup 2024 is his last tournament as coach

Rahul Dravid has announced that he will step down from his role as India's head coach after the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. Dravid himself shared this news yesterday before the Indian team's practice session in New York. His tenure as the coach is set to conclude with this T20 World Cup.

Regarding his decision to step down, Dravid said, "I enjoy coaching. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as India's coach. It is a special kind of job. I also enjoyed working with this team. However, considering the upcoming schedule and the stage of life I am at, I don't think I will reapply. Every match I've coached India in has been important to me. The World Cup isn't more significant just because it’s my last competition in charge."

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and others are currently in the USA to play in the World Cup. Meanwhile, discussions about the new coach for the team are ongoing. Currently, Rahul Dravid is the coach of the Indian team, and his tenure will end with this T20 World Cup.

In this scenario, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is looking for a new head coach. Several foreign stars and multiple former Indian players have been mentioned as potential candidates. However, it is yet to be confirmed who will be the next coach of Team India. It has been reported that the new coach will be announced immediately after the T20 World Cup concludes. If everything goes as planned, Gautam Gambhir is likely to be the next coach of India.
