On this day: Mustafizur's First-Class Debut in Cox's Bazar

Mustafizur Rahman, aged 28, has been playing cricket at the highest level for quite some time, making a name for himself both domestically and internationally. Wearing Bangladesh's jersey, he has played 15 Tests, 104 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 91 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). He has taken 31, 164, and 107 wickets respectively in these formats.

Despite playing numerous T20 matches outside the national team, Mustafizur hadn't played many List A or First-Class matches until recently. His journey in First-Class cricket began with 36 matches, while he played 115 List A matches, which speaks volumes.

Mustafizur's journey in First-Class cricket began exactly ten years ago today (April 19). On this day in 2014, during the National Cricket League (NCL) 2013/14 season, matches were held at Cox's Bazar's Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium between Khulna Division and Dhaka Division. Mustafizur was honored with his First-Class debut for Khulna. Before the match, he was given the cap by Khulna's captain Abdur Razzak.

However, Mustafizur couldn't shine on his debut day as Khulna lost the match by five wickets. Although he took one wicket in the first innings, he remained wicketless in the second innings.

The day of Mustafizur's debut in First-Class cricket also marked the beginning of the journey for Mosaddek Hossain Saikat.
