Pakistan Cricket Board proposes three venues for 2025 Champions Trophy

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed to host the 2025 Champions Trophy at three venues: Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. According to the draft schedule developed by the board, these three venues have been selected. The tournament is scheduled to take place in mid-February next year. If everything goes as planned, it will be the first ICC event hosted by Pakistan in 30 years.

The last time the Champions Trophy was held was in 2017, where Pakistan won the title. This time, the team will attempt to defend their title on home soil.

An ICC representative team has already visited Pakistan. The tournament, featuring eight teams, is expected to span two weeks. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced in a press conference, "We have fixed the match schedule and sent it to the ICC."

"The ICC security team came and we had a good discussion. They have seen all the arrangements here, and we have also discussed improvements to the stadiums with them. We are in constant communication with the ICC, trying to ensure that we can organize a good tournament in Pakistan."

There is ongoing discussion about whether the Indian team will tour Pakistan. Previously, despite the entire schedule of the Asia Cup being in Pakistan, due to objections from India, it was held in a hybrid model with Sri Lanka joining as a second host.

The last major ICC event hosted by Pakistan was the ODI World Cup in 1996, in collaboration with India and Sri Lanka. Since then, due to security concerns, the country has lagged behind in hosting matches. Now, Pakistan is making efforts to restart hosting ICC events.
