Mumbai Indians (MI) couldn't sustain even with Rohit Sharma's century. After winning the last two matches, they faced another defeat. This time, they accepted a loss by 20 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The Chennai-Mumbai match has become famous as the 'El Clasico' of the IPL. In Sunday night's match, Chennai first went to bat and lost 4 wickets to score 206 runs. In response, Mumbai lost 6 wickets and stopped at 186 runs.

Responsibility has fallen on Hardik Pandya from Rohit's side. However, Pandya couldn't shine much in that responsibility. He performed well neither with the ball nor with the bat. On the other hand, despite Rohit's efforts to decipher Chennai's target, they couldn't convert it into victory.

Losing the toss, Chennai batted first and lost Ajinkya Rahane early. Another opener, Rachin Ravindra, also failed to make it big. Their partnership with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube set the foundation for the team. When they brought the run to 150 in the 16th over, Dube remained unbeaten till the end. And there was Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Former Chennai captain Dhoni faced the last 4 balls of the innings, hitting 3 sixes off Pandya's delivery. Chennai's score stopped at 206.

The target wasn't low, and Rohit and Ishan Kishan didn't start poorly. Although Kishan couldn't convert his innings into something significant. He fell victim to Matheesha Pathirana after scoring 23 runs off 15 balls.

In the same over, Pathirana dismissed Suryakumar Yadav too. Mustafizur Rahman took an exceptional catch to send him back without scoring any runs off 2 balls. Among the remaining batters, none could find any substantial support.

Tilak Varma scored 31 runs off 20 balls. Meanwhile, Rohit, leading from the front, tried his best. He always lacks a competent partner.

At the end of the over, this Mumbai opener took a hundred. However, he didn't celebrate much. At that point, the defeat seemed imminent. Six balls were left in Pathirana's over, and Mumbai needed 34 runs. And Mumbai lost by a margin of 20 runs.

Rohit remained unbeaten with 105 runs off 63 balls, where he hit 11 fours and 5 sixes.

Chennai's Matheesha Pathirana bowled brilliantly. He collected 4 wickets, conceding 28 runs in 4 overs. Mustafizur Rahman was the most expensive. He took 1 wicket, giving away 55 runs in 4 overs.
