In a dreamlike series vs Bangladesh, Kamindu Mendis of Sri Lanka has written his name for the Nominee of ICC Player of the Month (March 2024) award. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced today through a press release that Kamindu Mendis has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for March 2024, along with two others.

Joining Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis are Mark Adair from Ireland and Matt Henry from New Zealand.

After 2022, Kamindu Mendis has made a comeback to Sri Lanka's setup. He has had a dreamlike March. Displaying dominance against Bangladesh in the T20Is, he showed remarkable performance in the Test series.

In the Sylhet Test, he scored runs in both innings, with scores of 102 and 164 respectively. In the Chattogram Test, despite the failure of his team in the first innings, he remained unbeaten with 92 runs and scored 9 runs in the second innings. With a total of 367 runs in 4 innings, he was the star performer.

Mark Adair from Ireland delivered a stunning performance against Afghanistan in March's historic Test. In the first innings, he took the first 5 wickets of his career. Dismissing Afghanistan for 155 runs, he contributed 15 runs with the bat.

In the second innings, he took the wickets of Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah, and Hashmatullah Shahidi. Afghanistan collapsed at 218, and with 8 wickets in hand, he played a pivotal role in the team's victory. In the One-Day series, he took 3 wickets. In the T20 series, he took 5 wickets.

New Zealand's Matt Henry shined against Australia in the Test series, taking 17 wickets and scoring 101 runs. He was awarded the series' Player of the Match.
