Harsha Bhogle picks Indian squad for T20 World Cup 2024

Popular commentator and cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle has selected his preferred Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. With only a few days left before the squad submission deadline, former cricketers are revealing their top picks. Bhogle, deeply involved in cricket analysis, has also made his choices known.

On Friday, he released a video on his official YouTube channel discussing his preferred 15-member Indian cricket team. He mentioned that the selection process was quite challenging, which will also be a task for the Indian selectors.

In Bhogle's squad, as batsmen, he has included Captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, and Shivam Dube.

It is becoming increasingly clear that Pant, who has returned from a major accident, will be the first choice as wicketkeeper. Rajasthan Royals captain Samson is performing excellently in the current IPL season and has been included as a wicketkeeper-batter as well. Shivam Dube, who has been hitting aggressively in the middle order for Chennai Super Kings, was also an easy pick.

As all-rounders, Bhogle has chosen Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel. Considering Jadeja's injury concerns, Axar has been included as a versatile option who can also bat effectively. Despite Pandya's recent poor form in the IPL, Bhogle trusts his experience as a pace-bowling all-rounder.

Kuldeep Yadav is Bhogle’s choice as a specialized spinner, alongside Jadeja who will also contribute with spin. Shivam Dube can provide medium pace bowling if needed.

Pacer Sandeep Sharma adds a surprise element to Bhogle’s squad. Known for his ability to control batsmen during the death overs, Sharma impressed by taking five wickets in a recent match against Mumbai Indians. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag had also included Sharma in his list of preferred players.

Jasprit Bumrah is an expected name among the pacers. The other two pacers chosen by Bhogle are Mohammad Siraj and Avesh Khan.
