Australia Announce Squad for Series Against Bangladesh

Australia will have to take on Bangladesh without their regular captain. The Australia women’s cricket team have finalized a star-studded squad for the upcoming three-match One-Day International series against Bangladesh, scheduled to begin next month.

In the absence of Sophie Molineux, the responsibility of leading the team on home soil has been handed to experienced all-rounder Tahlia McGrath. The bilateral series will be played at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane from October 9 to 14.

The hosts have been dealt a few fitness setbacks ahead of the series. Pace bowler Darcie Brown has been ruled out as she continues to recover from a back injury, with a potential return expected during the upcoming Women’s Big Bash League. Left-arm pacer Lucy Hamilton has also been ruled out of the Bangladesh series after suffering a thigh injury during training. However, Cricket Australia are hopeful that Hamilton will recover in time for the New Zealand series in Sydney from October 18 to 22.

Meanwhile, several changes have been made to the squad based on recent performances. Batter Grace Harris has been left out of the T20 World Cup squad after failing to find her expected rhythm. Chief selector Sean Flegler has indicated that another new player will be added to the squad soon after assessing performances in the next round of the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL).
