Early Blow in Cloudy Sylhet, Bangladesh Lose 3 Wickets in First Session
Bangladesh reached 101 for 3 at lunch on the opening day of the second Test against Pakistan at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. After being sent in to bat, the hosts lost three wickets in 26 overs. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten on 26, while Mushfiqur Rahim was batting on 18.
The innings began on a disappointing note for Bangladesh. Mahmudul Hasan Joy departed on just the second ball of the match, edging Mohammad Abbas to the slip cordon without scoring.
Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Mominul Haque then put together a small but useful partnership. However, neither batter could convert their start into a significant innings. Tamim eventually gifted his wicket away, charging out of the crease awkwardly before offering a simple catch off Abbas.
Coming in at number three, Mominul showed patience early in his innings but failed to stay long at the crease. The left-hander scored 22 runs from 41 balls before being dismissed.
After the early setbacks, Shanto and Mushfiqur took charge of rebuilding the innings. The experienced duo batted cautiously, rotated the strike smartly, and punished loose deliveries whenever possible. Their unbroken 37-run stand for the fourth wicket off 61 balls ensured Bangladesh went into lunch without further damage.
