Khaled Ahmeds Five-Wicket Haul Leads Kent to Rout Lancashire

Bangladesh’s right-arm pacer Khaled Ahmed ensured that Kent did not feel the absence of fellow Bangladeshi seamer Hasan Mahmud in the County Championship. With Hasan returning home for national duty, there had been some concern in the Kent camp, but Khaled quickly erased those worries with a brilliant bowling spell in only his second match for the county, claiming five wickets.

Khaled was virtually unplayable on Tuesday against Lancashire, producing a devastating spell on the opening day. He finished with figures of 5 for 42 from 15.5 overs as Kent bowled Lancashire out for just 161. Just one over later, he struck again, trapping Lancashire star Rocky Flintoff leg before wicket. Returning to the attack with renewed intensity immediately after the tea break, the Bangladeshi pacer dismissed wicketkeeper-batter Hurst, who had scored 37, by having him caught at slip.

Towards the end of Lancashire’s innings, Khaled first shattered Stanley’s stumps before completing his five-wicket haul by dismissing legendary James Anderson, securing his first five-wicket haul in county cricket.
