BCSA Honors Taijul Islam- Highest Test Wicket Taker of Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Cricket Supporters Association (BCSA), the premier official supporters' organization for Bangladesh cricket, has honored Taijul Islam, the highest wicket-taker in the history of Bangladesh Test cricket, with a special recognition award.

The award was handed over to the left-arm spinner on Friday (September 25) during a simple yet dignified ceremony held at The Daily Star Centre in the capital. On behalf of the BCSA, Taijul was also presented with the association's official jersey and cap.

The ceremony was attended by BCSA President Sharfuddin Ahmed, General Secretary S M Kamrul Alam, Joint General Secretary Shihab Ahsan Khan, Vice Presidents MD Altamis Nabil and Mehedee Zaman Sonnet, Treasurer Rafsanjani Rana, and Executive Members Sazzadur Rahman Shawon and Advocate Al Mirajul Islam.

Moved by the recognition and warmth from the fans, Taijul Islam praised the BCSA, stating:

"Whether playing at home or abroad, we always feel your presence in the stands. Without the fans, our performance remains incomplete. Your love and unwavering support serve as our biggest inspiration to excel on the field. I hope you will continue to stand by us just like this."

It is worth noting that Taijul stands as the most successful bowler in Bangladesh’s Test history, having taken 272 wickets in 110 innings across 62 Tests. In November last year, he surpassed legendary all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan (246 wickets) to become the first Bangladeshi bowler to reach the milestone of 250 Test wickets. He also holds the record for taking five wickets in a Test innings 19 times and ten wickets in a match twice.

Since making his Test debut in the red-and-green jersey in 2014, the veteran spinner has been an integral part of the national team for over a decade. In other formats of international cricket, he has claimed 31 wickets in 20 ODIs and 1 wicket in 2 T20Is. Additionally, in domestic cricket, he has taken 537 wickets in First-Class matches, 214 in List A, and 93 in recognized T20s.
