Bangladesh women’s cricketers Nahida Akter and Sharmin Sultana have been involved in disciplinary controversy during the second ODI against Sri Lanka.

Both players faced sanctions for breaching the code of conduct in two separate incidents during the.

 

They have each been fined 10 percent of their match fees for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.

 

In the 17th over of Wednesday’s match, Nahida gestured Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu toward the pavilion after dismissing her, effectively giving a ‘send-off’.

Her action was deemed inappropriate by the opposition and match officials.

 

Meanwhile, in the 16th over of Bangladesh’s innings, Sharmin showed dissent after being given out lbw.

She pointed toward her bat, delayed leaving the , and expressed frustration, which constituted a breach of conduct.

 

On-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Rokeya Sultana, third umpire Dolly Rani Sarkar, and fourth umpire Sathira Jakir filed formal charges against the players.

 

Both cricketers later admitted their offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Supriya Rani Das.

As a result, no formal hearing was required.

 

Nahida was charged under Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which prohibits gestures that provoke or mock a dismissed batter.

 

Sharmin, on the other hand, was charged under Article 2.8, relating to showing dissent or disrespect toward an umpire’s decision.

 

In addition to the fines, both players have received one demerit point each.

This is their first offence within a 24-month period.
