Pakistan Expresses Interest in Hosting Bangladeshs World Cup Matches
Uncertainty surrounds Bangladesh’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in India. Amid this situation, a new possibility has emerged from Pakistan. According to a report published by Pakistani media outlet Geo Super, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has shown interest in hosting Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup matches.
The report states that if sufficient venues cannot be secured in Sri Lanka, the PCB has formally informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) of its willingness to stage Bangladesh’s matches in Pakistan. Sources within the board have indicated that all of Pakistan’s international-standard stadiums are fully prepared to host a major tournament like the World Cup.
PCB sources further claim that Pakistan has prior experience of successfully organizing several major ICC events. Notable among them are the 2025 Champions Trophy and the ICC Women’s Qualifier. Based on this experience, the board is confident it can smoothly conduct Bangladesh’s World Cup fixtures.
It is worth noting that Bangladesh has expressed reluctance to participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup in India due to security concerns. As an alternative, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has proposed hosting their matches in Sri Lanka, which is also a co-host of the tournament. However, the ICC has yet to announce any final decision regarding the matter.
