Arshdeep Singh Set for Test Debut at The Oval!
India trails 2-1 in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy and must win the fifth and final Test at The Oval to level the series. In this crucial encounter, pacer Arshdeep Singh is set to make his Test debut.
Arshdeep, who had been sidelined due to a hand injury, returned to bowl in the nets on 29 July. According to The Times of India, the left-arm pacer was in the management’s plans for the final two Tests, but his injury kept him out of the Manchester Test.
In the final Test, Arshdeep is expected to be the third seamer alongside Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep. A decision on Jasprit Bumrah's inclusion will be made based on match-day conditions.
The 25-year-old has already played 63 T20Is and 9 ODIs for India. He was a key member of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup-winning squad, finishing as joint-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets in what was the farewell tournament for stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. In the final against South Africa, Arshdeep bowled a brilliant 19th over, conceding only four runs.
The high-stakes final Test between India and England begins Thursday at The Oval.
