Powered by a brilliant opening partnership from Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan, Pakistan defeated West Indies by 13 runs in the third and final T20I on Sunday night to seal the series 2-1. Led by Agha Salman, Pakistan dominated with both bat and ball to secure the title in this high-stakes decider.
Pakistan had taken a 1-0 lead in the series with a 14-run win in the opener, but West Indies bounced back in dramatic fashion to win the second match by 2 wickets off the final ball. With the series on the line, Farhan and Saim stepped up to deliver a match-winning performance.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Pakistan came out all guns blazing. The opening duo of Farhan and Saim stitched together a commanding 138-run stand. Farhan smashed 74 off 53 balls with 5 sixes and 3 fours, while Saim added 66 off 49 with 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Despite losing a few quick wickets in the final overs, Pakistan posted a competitive 189 for 5. Farhan was dismissed after his fifty, while Saim fell in the last over. Hasan Nawaz chipped in with 15, and Mohammad Haris was run out for 2.
Chasing 190, West Indies got off to a fiery start, scoring 30 runs in the first 10 balls. But Pakistan’s bowlers fought back by taking wickets at regular intervals.
Jewel Andrew was dismissed for 24 by Haris Rauf, caught by Hasan Ali. Captain Shai Hope managed just 7 before falling to Mohammad Nabi, with the catch taken by Saim Ayub.
Alick Athanaze was the lone fighter for the Windies, scoring a gritty 60, but his resistance ended when he was dismissed by Saim Ayub, caught by Khushdil Shah. Late hopes were dashed when Roston Chase and Jason Holder departed cheaply.
In the final over, Sherfane Rutherford brought up his fifty with a six but was dismissed soon after for 51. West Indies could only manage 176 for 8 in their 20 overs.
With this 13-run victory, Pakistan took the series 2-1, avenging their recent series loss to Bangladesh. Sahibzada Farhan was named Player of the Series for his outstanding performances throughout.
