South Africa Confirms 8 Venues for 2027 World Cup

For cricket fans, a World Cup always brings extra excitement. Whether it’s the ODI, T20 or the Test Championship, ICC tournaments carry a special buzz. The 2027 ODI World Cup will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Among them, South Africa has confirmed eight venues.

In a statement on Monday, Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced that 44 of the tournament’s 54 matches—scheduled for October–November 2027—will take place on South African soil. The selected venues are Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein, East London, and Paarl.

However, CSA has not yet disclosed how many matches each venue will host. That information will be available once the full schedule is released. The remaining 10 matches will be hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia, though venues in those two countries are still to be finalized.

To ensure smooth delivery of the tournament, a local organizing body has been appointed, with former South African finance minister Trevor Manuel named as chair of the organizing committee. CSA president Rihan Richards said, “Our aim is to stage a truly global event, showcasing South Africa’s diversity to the world.”

Notably, South Africa last hosted the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2003, followed by the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 and the Champions Trophy in 2009. After 24 years, the ODI World Cup is set to return to Protea soil.
