Nurul Hasan Sohan steadied the innings in consecutive matches while chasing a moderate target. Fighting till the end for the team, his batting guided Bangladesh to victory. Returning to the side after a long time, the right-handed batter played back-to-back unbeaten innings, becoming a reliable pillar for the Tigers.
In the first T20I at Sharjah, Bangladesh lost six wickets for just nine runs after a promising start. Yet, Sohan stood firm on one end and scored an unbeaten 21 off 13 balls to lead the team to a win. The next day, facing a target of 148, Bangladesh faltered again in the chase. Once more, Sohan anchored the innings, hitting one four and three sixes to score 31* off 21 balls, securing another thrilling victory for the team.
Having returned to the national T20I side after nearly three years, Sohan has consistently delivered whenever given the opportunity. His stellar performances have impressed Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Simmons said: “Sohan played a fantastic innings today. When Jaker and Shamim were out and the team was under pressure, he took responsibility and finished the game. This is what I expect from our batters—when the chance comes, they must deliver victory for the team.”
Captain Jaker also lauded Sohan’s contribution, saying: “All credit goes to the boys, especially Sohan. The way he returned to the team and left his mark in two consecutive matches is remarkable. Coming back after such a long time and playing like a fighter is not easy. I am proud of his contribution to the team.”
