Five Uncapped Players in South Africa’s Test Squad for Zimbabwe Series
South Africa has announced a 16-member Test squad under the captaincy of Temba Bavuma for the upcoming two-match Test series against Zimbabwe. The squad includes five uncapped players: Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Lesego Senokwane, Cody Yusuf, Dewald Brevis, and Prenelan Subrayen.
Dewald Brevis, known for his explosive batting, scored 507 runs in six innings during the 2022 ICC U-19 World Cup. Pretorius, meanwhile, was the leading run-scorer in the 2025 SA T20 League.
Notably, nine senior players including Kagiso Rabada, Aiden Markram, Marco Jansen, Ryan Rickelton, and Tristan Stubbs have been rested for this series to allow them time off following the ICC World Test Championship Final (held from 11–15 June at Lord’s).
The first Test against Zimbabwe will begin on 28 June, followed by the second from 6 to 10 July. This will be South Africa’s first Test series after their appearance in the WTC Final.
