South Africa's pacer Anrich Nortje was ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to injury. In his place, Cricket South Africa has announced that Corbin Bosch will be part of the squad for the upcoming tournament.
Corbin Bosch has played only one international ODI, which was against Pakistan last December. In that match, he bowled 9 overs, giving away 69 runs and taking 1 wicket. He also contributed with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 40 runs.
However, Bosch made a significant impact in the recent SA T20 League, where he was outstanding with the ball. Playing for MI Cape Town, Bosch claimed 11 wickets in 8 matches, helping his team win the tournament.
Apart from the Champions Trophy, Bosch will also be a part of the Kridashiya Series and is expected to arrive in Pakistan on Sunday. South Africa’s first match in the Champions Trophy will be on February 21 against Afghanistan, followed by matches against Australia on February 25 and England on March 1.
Khwena Mafaka has been named as a reserve player for the tournament.
