Bangladesh is very close to winning a memorable series
Bangladesh began the fifth day of the Test match with a strong chance of winning the series. However, within the first hour, they lost both openers. Zakir Hasan and Sadman Islam, who were unbeaten at the end of the previous day, continued to bat comfortably. But after Zakir’s departure, Sadman also had to return to the pavilion quickly. Despite losing both openers, Bangladesh is advancing towards their target, with Shanto and Mominul heading to lunch having set the stage for a series victory.
Bangladesh is 63 runs away from a historic Test series win against Pakistan. Chasing a target of 185 runs in the final innings, Bangladesh reached 122 runs for the loss of 2 wickets at the lunch break on the fifth day. Mominul Haque was unbeaten on 20 runs, and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto had scored 33 runs. Shanto and his team are expected to enjoy a satisfying lunch break. They will return for the second session with the prospect of making history.
In Rawalpindi, Bangladesh maintained control of the match and aimed to chase the remaining 143 runs. From the start of the innings, Zakir Hasan was aggressive but could only add 9 more runs before getting out. He was bowled by a good-length delivery from Mir Hamza after missing the line, ending his innings at 40 runs. This dismissal broke the 58-run opening partnership with Sadman.
The other opener, Sadman, continued cautiously but faced trouble with a slower ball from Khurram Shahzad. Trying to play a shot, Sadman was caught by Shan Masood at mid-off. Sadman scored 24 runs from 51 balls. After losing both openers with the team’s score at 70, Mominul Haque and Najmul Hossain Shanto provided stability. Despite losing the openers in the morning, Bangladesh continued to advance smoothly towards their target.
With captain Shanto and the experienced Mominul Haque at the crease, Bangladesh is on the verge of victory. They went to lunch with the prospect of making history against Pakistan. To win the series, Bangladesh needs 63 more runs. The partnership between Mominul and Shanto remains unbeaten at 52 runs.
