At the end of the third day, Bangladesh was at 283 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, with Mehedi Hasan Miraz standing as the team's only hope. Starting the day unbeaten on 87, Miraz was eagerly waiting for his century. However, his wait turned into disappointment as Kagiso Rabada dismissed him as the last batter for 97 runs, leaving Bangladesh’s second innings at 307 runs.

To win the Mirpur Test, South Africa now needs to chase down 106 runs, with nearly two days remaining. Miraz missed his century by just 3 runs on a day when Rabada took 6 wickets.

Starting the fourth day with an 81-run lead and 3 wickets in hand, Bangladesh faced an early setback. Rabada trapped Naim Hasan leg before wicket for just 16 runs in the opening over of the day.

Taijul Islam also didn’t last long, edging a delivery from Wiaan Mulder outside off stump to second slip for just 7 runs. However, Taijul managed to hit a boundary just before his dismissal, bringing Bangladesh's lead to 100 runs.

With Bangladesh down to 9 wickets and Miraz still 3 runs away from his century, he ultimately could not reach that milestone. Rabada, celebrating his 15th five-wicket haul, claimed the final wicket, and Bangladesh's second innings ended at 307 runs in 89.5 overs. After starting the day with fears of an innings defeat, Bangladesh had the opportunity to turn the tide, but Rabada and Mulder's pace attack thwarted any chances of extending their lead.

On the morning of the fourth day, Bangladesh could play only 25 minutes before getting all out.
