Today is the fourth day of the Sylhet Test. In the first hour of the morning session, Sri Lanka's success was limited to the wicket of nightwatchman Taijul Islam. With Bangladesh losing their sixth wicket for just 51 runs, they found themselves in deep trouble of facing a significant defeat. At this crucial juncture, Mehidy Hasan Miraz partnered with Muminul Haque. Muminul, an experienced batsman in such situations, holds the key to Bangladesh's hopes of building a respectable total. Miraz, on the other hand, provides support from the other end.
In the first hour, Bangladesh lost one wicket, adding only 37 runs to the scoreboard. Up to this report, Tigers collected 84 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Experienced Muminul Haque is batting with 28 runs, and Mehedi Miraz is accompanying him with 14 runs. To win the Test, Bangladesh needs to score another 427 runs.
Bangladesh's attempt to chase down Sri Lanka's massive target of 511 runs started with a rocky beginning as their batting faltered once again. With just 37 runs on the board, Bangladesh found themselves losing five wickets. Among the five batsmen dismissed, three returned to the pavilion without contributing any runs, with Liton Das falling victim to a golden duck.
Liton was caught behind on the first ball, and before that, skipper Shanto was dismissed lbw off a delivery that seemed to just miss the outside edge. These two wickets at the end of yesterday's evening session summed up the tale of Bangladesh's batting woes.
With Bangladesh losing five wickets for 37 runs, they concluded the day's play with a dismal batting performance. Nightwatchman Taijul Islam remained unbeaten with 6 runs, alongside Muminul Haque, who scored 7 runs. Taijul, who top-scored with 47 runs in the first innings, failed to replicate his performance and was dismissed for just 6 runs today. Kasun Rajitha's delivery saw Taijul edging the ball to an unfield umpire, confirming his dismissal. Despite reviewing the decision, Taijul couldn't save his wicket.
