Cricket West Indies CEO Johnny Grave to Step Down

Johnny Grave's tenure as the Chief Executive Officer of Cricket West Indies (CWI) is set to conclude this October. Grave took on the role in February 2017, having previously served as the Commercial Director of the Professional Cricketers' Association in England for nine years.

In a press release, Johnny Grave stated, "Being the Chief Executive of Cricket West Indies since February 2017 has been a great experience. After successfully hosting a T20 World Cup and serving as CEO for three consecutive years, I believe now is the right time for me and my family to seek new challenges."

Grave added, "Since becoming CEO, I have received incredible support from many people, and I want to thank everyone, especially the staff and players who stood by me and remained committed to West Indies cricket during the difficult times of the pandemic. I feel it is the right time for someone new to lead CWI, to continue this important work and build on the strong foundation we have established."

During his leadership, Grave oversaw the organization of three World Cups in the West Indies: the 2018 Women's T20 World Cup, the 2022 Under-19 World Cup, and the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup.

Earlier this year, Grave issued a warning to the ICC, urging the cricket boards of India, Australia, and England to collaborate with the ICC to reform the economics of Test cricket.

CWI President Kishore Shallow acknowledged Grave's contributions, stating, "Johnny's efforts, particularly during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic, and his successful hosting of three World Cups, have left a lasting impact on West Indies cricket."
