'Liton Das will score a lot of runs in the World Cup'

Opener Liton Das remains out of form even against Zimbabwe, failing to shine with the bat. In an attempt to alleviate pressure, Liton has given up wicketkeeping duties, yet seems unable to free himself from stress. He has been underperforming for a long time, and seems unable to break out of his poor form. Amidst these struggles, Liton has received praise from the national team’s assistant coach, Nick Pothas, who is hopeful that Liton will unleash a flurry of runs in the upcoming World Cup.

In the first T20I against Zimbabwe in Sylhet, Liton scored only 1 run. In the following match, he managed 23 runs, including one six and two fours, over 25 balls. After the five-match T20I home series against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh will play an away series against the USA, followed by the T20 World Cup. The question remains: when will Liton smile himself, and bring joy to the faces of the fans?

Bangladesh’s assistant coach, Nick Pothas, has spoken about Liton’s form and has praised his dedication:

"Liton Das is giving us a lot. He is a world-class cricketer. He is just one innings away from an incredible World Cup performance. There is no doubt Liton Das will score a lot of runs, as he has done before. He is adding a lot to our team. What he contributes in fielding, and the role he plays as a senior player, is adding much more to the team than what you see."

Regarding the ongoing series against Zimbabwe, Pothas assessed, "We are always trying to improve. These matches are very important, almost like a rehearsal for the World Cup. So, we are constantly striving for improvement. We have our KPIs that the batsmen are trying to meet, and we continuously evaluate our improvement based on those."
