West Indies Announce ODI Squad for Bangladesh Series

Following the conclusion of the Test series, Bangladesh will face West Indies in a three-match ODI series as part of their full tour of the Caribbean. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already named their squad with Mehedi Hasan Miraz as the captain, and now Cricket West Indies has confirmed their squad for the upcoming 50-over series.

Among the notable inclusions are wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangoo and all-rounder Justin Greaves, both of whom have been selected for the first time for the ODI series against Bangladesh. Amir Jangoo gets his maiden call-up to the ODI squad, while Justin Greaves, who missed out on the England series earlier this year, returns to the ODI setup after consistent performances in the domestic Super50 tournament.

Shai Hope, who captains the West Indies, will have Brandon King as his deputy. The batting lineup includes Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer, Sherfane Rutherford, Kacey Carty, and Roston Chase. On the bowling front, Alzarri Joseph, Shamarh Joseph, Jayden Seales, and Matthew Ford will spearhead the fast-bowling attack, with Gudakesh Motie taking charge of the spin department.

The ODI series will kick off on December 8, with the next two matches taking place on December 10 and December 12, all at Warner Park in St. Kitts.

Head Coach Daren Sammy's Comments on the Squad

"We are working towards our long-term goal of progressing to the ICC ODI World Cup, while keeping our short-term focus on winning series, especially securing victories at home and maintaining the momentum from our recent win against England," said Sammy.

He also emphasized the balance and dynamism that Greaves and Jangoo bring to the team.

"Greaves offers genuine all-round abilities and can bat anywhere in the top six. On the other hand, Jangoo’s performance in the Super50 demonstrates his flexibility, adding a new dimension to our batting unit," Sammy added.
