Bangladesh to Face Netherlands in T20I Series Ahead of Asia Cup; Dutch Announce 14-Member Squad
Bangladesh missed out on an international preparation opportunity for the Asia Cup after the scheduled three-match ODI and three-match T20I series against India was canceled. Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had agreed to the tour, the Indian government’s clearance did not come through, forcing the series to be called off at the last moment. To fill that gap, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) acted swiftly and arranged a three-match T20I series against the Netherlands later this month. The series will serve as Bangladesh’s final preparation before the Asia Cup.
The Netherlands squad will land in Bangladesh on August 26. All three T20Is will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on August 30, September 1, and September 3.
The Netherlands have announced a 14-member squad for the tour, led by wicketkeeper-batter Scott Edwards. The squad features experienced opener Max O’Dowd alongside young talent Vikramjit Singh.
With spin-friendly Bangladeshi conditions in mind, the Dutch have included multiple spinners such as Aryan Dutt, Tim Pringle, and Shariz Ahmed. Their pace attack will be spearheaded by Paul van Meekeren, Fred Klaassen, and newcomer Ben Fletcher.
This series holds great importance for the Netherlands as they prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and the European Cricket Challenge. Playing in subcontinental conditions will test their batting depth, temperament, and ability against spin.
For Bangladesh, the series is being seen as the final stage of preparation for the Asia Cup. With no other series scheduled before the tournament, it will also provide a platform to finalize their squad.
Netherlands Squad vs Bangladesh:
Max O’Dowd, Vikramjit Singh, Anil Nidamanuru, Scott Edwards (captain), Noah Croes, Saqib Zulfiqar, Ryan Klein, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren, Shariz Ahmed, Ben Fletcher, Daniel Doram, Tim Pringle, Fred Klaassen.
