Rasikh Salam's wicket-taking celebration against IPL rules, gets reprimanded
During the Wednesday night IPL match against Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals' fast bowler, Rasikh Salam, faced a warning for his excessive celebration upon taking a wicket. The IPL council highlighted the nature and extent of his celebration, which brought this issue to their attention.
Delhi secured a narrow 4-run victory over Gujarat at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Rasikh Salam was found guilty of violating Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.5, which deals with restrictions on language, behavior, and gestures that could be offensive or provoke an opponent.
Rasikh Salam accepted the punishment issued by the match referee. Despite the warning, he had an impactful performance in the game, dismissing players like Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, and Sai Kishore while conceding 44 runs.
Rasikh Salam, a young talent from Jammu and Kashmir, has played only two first-class matches and seven List A matches in his cricket career so far.
In a crucial moment of the match, with Gujarat needing 18 runs from the last two overs, Salam was brought into the attack. Although he gave away 18 runs in that over, he managed to claim the vital wicket of Kishore.
